[backdated: day of arrival]
What the bloody fuck.
[There's not a lot that can be seen in the video -- it's all dark. Rustling noises abound -- stiff cloth -- and when something comes into view despite the darkness, it's the dimly-lit face of a young adult, all freckles and sharp lines, bangs combed over the left side of their face. They're holding the eyeglass out in one hand, but that's really all that can be detailed. Wherever they are, there's very little light, and definitely no sunlight/]
...Alright. I -- I don't know what this is, or where I am, but I'm not aimin' to play stupid by stepping out in the sunlight. So, er - if anyone can see this, tell me what's goin' on. Because I really don't feel much at all in the mood for dying today. I don't -- nothin' makes sense -
[Alexis takes a deep breath.]
That's.
...Not the point.
Essentially, all boiled-down, can someone explain to me in layman's terms what th' hell is happening...? Much appreciated.

In layman's terms? We appear to have been ripped from our own worlds and unceremoniously dumped in this one by someone with a lot of power and absolutely no taste in eyeware. As far as I know, our job is to fight shadowy monsters wherever they appear and find a way of stopping them appearing in the first place.
[The picture of Daniel shifts as the thing holding the camera moves across the table, picking up a screwdriver and handing it to the inventor, who is currently trying to screw a piece of metal onto a larger structure that you can't really make out right now.]
Based on what you said about sunlight, I'm guessing that it's harmful to you? I'll be able to explain more fully if you come down to the observatory on the north side of town. At your convenience of course.
[Daniel picks up a wrench at this point and starts smacking the piece of metal he's been trying to get into place, punctuating each hit with a word.] STAY! THERE! YOU! STUPID! PIECE! OF! STEEL!
Fighting monsters isn't anythin' new. Depends on the type, I s'ppose, but I do it all the time where I'm from.
If this isn't my world -- and the hell's that mean? -- then maybe the sun'll be fine, but. 's hard to know.
[At Daniel's exclamations, Alexis might smirk - but again, it's hard to tell.]
Scientist, I'm assumin'?
[The viewpoint changes rapidly as the thing holding the eyepiece, presumably Cam, moves across the desk they're standing on to jump onto Daniel's outstretched hand, where it then pans rapidly as Daniel moves Cam, who is still holding the eyepiece to the hole in the chest-piece of the construction.
The eyepiece is briefly left on Daniel's hand as there is a glimpse of a tiny metal contraption leaping into the chest of the odd construction.
The view then shifts again now that the eyepiece is in Daniel's hand, and he looks into it as he speaks.] Like I said, this type are called the Nox, and they seem to be made entirely out of shadow and are immune to pretty much everything in this world but magic. And as for me saying that this isn't your world; I mean exactly that. This appears to be an entirely different reality to my own, which means that the same is likely true for you as well.
[Daniel grins at that last question, but finally, the viewpoint pans around to the thing Daniel's been working on, which is the still half finished skeleton of a robotic centaur. As the feed continues, A smaller, finished version of the robotic centaur finishes climbing into a special made cavity in the upper torso, plugging itself in.
The torso twitches briefly before coming to life more fully, inspecting it's arms and hands with the camera it has in place of a head. The viewpoint pans back to Daniel's face, which is sporting a satisfied grin.] You could say something like that.
Re: [Video]
...Scientist, definitely. M'cousin's one, although you'd be hard-pressed to tell if they're not on fire. What're you buildin'?
A bigger body for a friend of mine. See the little chap in that thing's chest? [Daniel puts the eyepiece on and points to Cam, who has now powered down the robot and is clambering out of the chest cavity they were plugged into] They're a bit wee to be fighting monsters at the moment, so I felt they needed something bigger to fight them with. We've had some success with bigger bodies in the past, but I don't really want to risk transferring them from one body to another in this world, so I'm building a suit they can plug themselves into when it's time to fight the bigger nasties

[Yes, that is definitely a pony smiling into the eyepiece, horn aglow as she holds it up with her much-weakened magic.]
You, as with several others of us, have been displaced into this world. Arbitrarily, I am afraid.

I haven't seen sunlight for years, alright? Far as I know, it'll kill me stone dead. 's not somethin' I'm particularly interested in.
Who're you?

[She inclines her head, every bit the regal pony her title indicates.]
How have you not seen sunlight? Forgive me for prying, but that is a topic very close to my heart.

[It's said scathingly, harshly, and Alexis tips their head to the side.]
I'm from London after the Fall. City's been underground for score and a half, and I make awful decisions, so I haven't seen the sun since I got there. It'd kill me.
Course, seems like this isn't the same world, so maybe not? But I don't like takin' chances.

[As calmly as she recites this, it had been much trickier than she cared to admit.]

Doesn't sound too bad. I fight, princess. 's what I do.
...thanks for the info, though. 's useful.
[The video cuts out as soon as Alexis says 'useful', with perfect dramatic timing. There's multiple people talking to them -- and although Celestia is nice...talking to the horse seems like an idea best saved for later.
Well.
Much later.]

Uhh, quick version, there's magic monsters in the dark, and you probably have magic also now? That's... pretty much the most important bits, summed up, I think.

I mean by it, uh, magic. Crazy powers and all... might sound a little strange, but you... you get used to it. Sort of. [At least, he assumes it happens eventually. He sure hasn't gotten used to it yet.] Seems like everyone gets pretty different stuff, so I can't really tell you what to expect, sorry.

Well. You've been useful.
[Greg doesn't seem like he has anything more to offer them -- so the video cuts out barely a second after the end of their comment.]
