[What's showing in this feed? Well, it appears to be a sword. A sword made entirely of golden light, flat and without distinctive marks or flaws -- a Platonic ideal of a sword, hovering in midair and swathed in the same golden light it is made of.]

Well. This is new. I am not certain if I could have created such an effect before I came here, but if I had the capability, I certainly never used it.

The question is -- did I gain something new, or is having my magic so weak leading me to find new ways to use it?

Ah! That sounds simple enough! I have been practicing making ice lately - I had thought to use icicles for similar purposes.

That seems like an excellent idea. You could freeze ice into a shape like this and then wield it quite effectively. May I watch you try?

Though you may as well come physically. [She doesn't want to have to deal with the communicator and the ice at the same time, okay]

That has been my intent. Much more informative that way. Now, or at a later time?

[Smaller ponies might be comfortable there, but princesses with mighty wingspans have much to dislike. One such princess swiftly joins her sister on top of the building, folding her wings as she lands.]

I have been looking forward to seeing what you can do with this water magic of yours.

It is more versatile than I had feared.

[Luna already has a thin stream of water moving around herself; she's taken to keeping one with her when she can, both to build her own endurance and just to have it.]

I do miss my ordinary magic, but it isn't so terrible. I hope to make clouds with it someday! Perhaps in combination with Agent Washington's air magic.

I almost envy you. You at least gained something new, instead of merely having your own power circumscribed.

[Just for fun, Celestia flickers a beam of light into her water to watch the reflections form hypnotic patterns on the roof around them.]

[Oooooh, pretty. Luna forms the stream into a floating water sphere, rotating it idly.]

It still feels strange. At least the light is effective against the shadow creatures, is it not?

It is. Almost disturbingly so, and yet incapable of actually dealing with them in any way but destroying them. It is only a weapon, not a tool. [Which hurts, so far away from Celestia's philosophies as it is.]

From what I have heard, they do not sound interested in negotiation.

[Luna is more flexible on this. Particularly in the case of corrupting shadows.]

That is true, and yet no matter how many Nox I might attack, more emerge. We can quash them but never quell them. This is a battle we cannot win by striking out at them -- we must find their true source and address it.

If it can be addressed.

[Light cannot exist without shadow. ]

Sister... what if battling the Nox is the wrong thing to do? That is something I fear.

Has he no true counterpart? The locals have been far from helpful in...well, in any regard.

Hiding evidence of a counterpart would be in their interest, the more so if his or her goals would be troublesome to them.

I begin to wonder if we should attempt to breach a Nox portal to see what lies on the other side.

That could be interesting.

Though I would avoid letting everyone know of the mission. Some of the younger humans would likely fling themselves in as well.

I was speaking of a generic 'we', sister. [Gently, now, because what she is about to say won't go over well.] I would only wish to take as many as I am sure my magic will protect. That may be only myself.

Sister... this is not some effort on my behalf to protect you from danger. I know better than to even try that. This is me truly not knowing what it will be like in there, and how much strength I will need.

I will not leave you behind if I have any belief at all that my light can protect you.

I do not require your light to protect me.

That depends on what the other side of these portals is like. We do not know yet. We don't know anything. It is unlikely, but it might very well be a world of fire where only one with water magic can survive, and if that were true how would you feel about me insisting on going in?

Since we do not know, it hardly makes any more sense for you to go in alone.

[Even though logic dictates that there's probably a lot of shadow shit involved......shut up.]

I am assuming we are going to look before we leap. [Sister, must you be a flank? She isn't trying to be unreasonable here!]
